Design Your Own Multifunctional Tracking Leash

Design your own 4-in-1 tracking leash for dogs in the Design Your Own configurator. Choose the length, material width, color, metal color, and carabiner to suit your dog and your specific use.

The handmade tracking leash is ideal for recall training, controlled off-leash walks, and hikes. It is also a very good solution for dogs who cannot walk off-leash or have limited freedom, but should still have as much freedom of movement as possible.

Four Functions in One System

1. Tracking Leash without Hand Loop
The tracking leash part can be used independently and drag freely on the ground. If necessary, the leash can be quickly secured with your foot.

2. Tracking Leash with Hand Loop
The short leash is connected to the tracking leash via the safety carabiner, serving as a comfortable hand loop.

3. Practical Hands-Free Carrying Function
When not in use, the folded tracking leash can be bundled with the short leash and attached, for example, to a backpack, belt, stroller, or a belt loop. This keeps it within reach without taking up additional space in your backpack.

4. Hand Loop Usable as a Short Leash
The short leash can be used separately, for example, when passing other dogs or in confined spaces.

At approx. 35 cm in length, it is intentionally kept very short and is not intended as a permanent everyday leash. For small dogs, this may require more bending.

Upon request, we can also make you a separate short leash or a short everyday leash from the same material, at no additional cost. Simply contact us after your order.

Also Ideal for Dogs Without Off-Leash Freedom

Not every dog can be reliably walked off-leash. For strong prey drive, an unreliable recall, or other training and everyday situations, the tracking leash gives your dog an additional range of motion without having to completely forego security.

By choosing the individually selectable length, you decide how much freedom your dog gets.

Three Material Widths to Choose From

Choose the width to suit your dog and your preferred handling:

10 mm: particularly light and narrow – ideal for very small dogs
13 mm: our universal option for many dog sizes
16 mm: sturdier version, recommended for dogs weighing approx. 25 kg or more, or for those who deliberately want more material in their hand

For the 10 and 13 mm versions, we deliberately make the short leash from 13 mm wide material so that it feels more comfortable and grippy in the hand.

For the 16 mm version, the short leash is also made of 16 mm wide PVC webbing. In addition, a Safe-Twist-Lock carabiner is already installed on the short leash.

Various Carabiners to Choose From

Bolt snap carabiner: proven standard closure; you can choose between three different sizes (Standard, Extra Small, or Standard with an additional upgrade to a thicker version). The options will be automatically offered to you in the configurator where it is possible and sensible.
Clamp safety carabiner: balanced ratio of safety, stability, and weight, very high breaking load (500kg+)
Safe-Twist-Lock carabiner: particularly secure against accidental opening due to the twist-and-click mechanism with the same high breaking load.

For difficult-to-handle, very strong or heavy dogs, or for maximum safety requirements, we strongly recommend one of the safety carabiners.

Choose Length, Color, and Features Yourself

In the configurator, you can select the length of your tracking leash to match the desired range of motion. Shorter versions allow for more direct control, while longer tracking leashes offer your dog more freedom.

In addition, numerous colors, various metal colors, and several carabiner options are available.

Robust PVC Webbing

The PVC webbing used is particularly scratch-resistant and durable. Branches, bushes, and thorns are less likely to damage the surface than softer coated webbings.

Stably Screwed Instead of Riveted

The particularly stressed connections are triple-screwed instead of riveted. In addition, we secure the screws with screw locking adhesive to prevent unintentional loosening.

Screws, carabiners, and the rivet of our label are matched as uniformly as possible to the selected metal color.

This results in an individually configured multifunctional tracking leash, tailored to your dog, your training routine, and your personal style.

Allgemeine Hinweise

- Korrekte Verwendung

Verwende die Schleppleine unbedingt an einem Hundegeschirr und niemals direkt am Hundehalsband.

- Metallwaren

Schrauben & Karabiner können sich - je nach Beschaffenheit - mit der Dauer abnutzen. Das ist ein natürlicher Prozess und lässt sich bei Schleppleinen kaum verhindern. Dies beeinträchtigt in keinster Weise die Sicherheit & Stabilität. Unsere "Hardware" ist je nach Farbe unterschiedlich vorbehandelt und besitzt daher auch unterschiedliche Abriebfestigkeiten. Grundsätzlich verwenden wir Metalllegierungen von sehr guter Industriequalität, welche eine sehr hohe Korrosionsbeständigkeit aufweisen. (Sehr robust gegen Rostbildung). Jede eingesetzte Hardware wird vor Einsatz darauf geprüft & getestet. Welche Hardware konkret bei diesem Produkt verwendet wird, findest du weiter oben aufgelistet.

Lackierte Hardware (schwarz): Am meisten anfällig, die Lackierung kann sich auf Dauer abreiben.
Verkupferte Hardware (rose-gold): Geringe Anfälligkeit.
Vermessingte Hardware (goldener Look): Geringe Anfälligkeit.
Echt-Messing Hardware (gold): Keine Anfälligkeit

Bei richtiger Pflege & Anwendung halten SammyLunaDesigns-Schleppleinen jedoch mehrere Jahre lang.

Washing / Cleaning

You can simply hold the material under water or wipe it with a damp cloth. Avoid strong, aggressive cleaning agents. In case of heavy soiling, you can use a little neutral soap or liquid detergent.

Drying

Wipe dry roughly with a lint-free cloth & then let air dry. Avoid heating, hair dryers & tumble dryers.

Karabinerpflege

Fetten: Wir empfehlen ein regelmäßiges ölen in Abständen von ca. 6 Monaten bzw. nach intensiven Waschvorgängen. Solltest du dich überwiegend in Salzwassernähe aufhalten verkürzt sich diese Empfehlung auf kürzere Abstände nach Bedarf & örtlichen Gegebenheiten.

Reinigen: Kontrolliere nach Aufenthalten an z.B. Sandstränden den ordnungsgemäßen Verschluss des Karabiners.

Allgemein gilt: Die klassischen Bolzenkarabiner sind bekannt dafür sich gerne selbst mit Sandkörnern zu blockieren. Dies tritt jedoch meist nur in Sandstrandnähe auf. Reinige den Karabiner bei Bedarf einfach unter fließendem Wasser und das Problem sollte gelöst sein.

How does this long line work with the hand loop?

The hand loop is simply attached to the end of the long line with a carabiner when needed. And just like that, your long line has a hand loop.

How do I convert the hand loop into a holder?

Wrap the hand loop once around the long line, which has already been folded several times, and then thread the carabiner of the hand loop through its own loop. You can then attach the holder, including the attached long line, to your backpack, trousers or belt.

I am looking for a Biothane long line - am I in the right place?

Absolutely! - All SammyLunaDesigns long lines are made of water-repellent webbing, which has almost identical properties to the patented Biothane BETA®. Some customers report a slightly more slip-resistant surface in wet conditions compared to Biothane® BETA. It will be difficult to find a better material for a long line.

How safe is this long line?

This SammyLunaDesigns long line is 100% securely screwed. Our screws are all additionally secured with a high-quality thread-locking adhesive from a renowned manufacturer. Self-loosening of the screw is therefore almost impossible.

Is the carabiner not too small for my dog?

We select the carabiner according to your weight specification. The size of the carabiner alone does not give a good indication of its quality & stability. Rather, it depends on the manufacturing method, the material, the breaking load and much more. It is not uncommon for visually smaller carabiners to have a higher breaking load than visually larger carabiners.

You can rely on us here; we guarantee to select the correct carabiner for your dog. You can also mention the dog breed in the notes box in the shopping cart.

Are the metals used nickel-free?

Yes! Almost all metal elements are tested for nickel-free properties and have the "Pass-compliant" mark from the laboratory. They can all be classified as hygienically safe and do not release nickel.

If you are unsure & your dog has a nickel allergy, please contact us. We will be happy to advise you and help you clarify the matter.

When should I use the long line with a hand loop, when without?

That depends somewhat on your training goal and your training methods. Usually, you should remove the hand loop if the long line drags on the ground, so that the risk of injury is reduced. If you actively train with your dog & the long line, it is usually advisable to use the hand loop. (e.g. change of direction exercises, etc.)

Can the colour of the leash rub off?

No - at least our quality assurance has not yet been able to determine this, and so far there has not been a single complaint from several hundred orders. We know that colours can rub off with some competitors. However, the material used there is usually inferior and is not produced in the EU. We source our material from the EU and attach great importance to excellent quality.

Wie lange benötigt ihr für die Herstellung meiner Leine?

Da wir alle Leinen selbst per Handarbeit anfertigen und auch die zur Verfügung stehende Farbauswahl enorm hoch ist, müssen wir oft die gewünschte Farbe selbst erst beim Lieferanten bestellen. Sollten die Materialien bei uns bereits auf Lager sein, dauert es in der Regel zwischen 1-3 Werktage, andernfalls wie unter "Lieferzeiten" angegeben, bis deine Leine unsere Manufaktur verlässt.

Ich möchte gerne eine Farbe gegen eine Andere austauschen

Schreibe uns per WhatsApp oder eine E-Mail mit deinem Änderungswunsch. Da wir auf Bestellung herstellen sollte die gewünschte Änderung kein Problem darstellen.

Wir bieten auch Konfiguratoren an, dort kannst du deine Leine zu 100% selbst konfigurieren.

Welche Leinenlänge benötige ich für meinen Hund?

Das ist abhängig von deinem Trainingsziel bzw. deines persönlichen Geschmacks & der Verwendung der Leine. Bist du sehr motiviert & trainierst oft mit deinem Hund an der Leine, dann empfehlen wir eine maximale Leinenlänge von 200cm. Solltest du dir die Leine umhängen wollen, dann empfehlen wir je nach Körperbau eine Länge zwischen 240cm - 300cm. Für stark an der Leine ziehende Hunde empfehlen wir 180cm-200cm.

Schleppleinen

Die Längenangabe entspricht der unverarbeiteten Länge des Rohmaterials. Wir messen von der Rolle immer die bestellte Länge ab und verarbeiten anschließend das Material zur Schleppleine.

Die Handschlaufe verringert die Gesamtlänge um ca. 30cm.
