Multifunctional Tracking Leash for Dogs – Handmade and Robust

Our handmade 4-in-1 tracking leash in navy blue is suitable for recall training, walks, hikes, and supervised off-leash activities. The robust PVC webbing is easy to care for, durable, and configurable with various metal colors and carabiner options.

Four Functions in One System

1. Tracking Leash without Hand Loop
The tracking leash part can be used independently and trail along the ground. Depending on the training situation, it can be quickly secured with your foot, allowing you to maintain control over your dog.

2. Tracking Leash with Hand Loop Attached
The short lead (hand loop) is attached to the tracking leash using a safety carabiner, serving as a comfortable and robust hand loop.

3. Practical "Hands-Free" Carrying Function
When not in use, the folded tracking leash part can be secured with the short lead and attached to a backpack, belt, stroller, or belt loop. This keeps your hands free, the tracking leash always within reach, and saves space in your backpack & Co.

4. Hand Loop Usable as a Short Lead
The hand loop can be used separately as a short lead in certain situations, for example, when passing other dogs. However, it is not intended as a permanent everyday leash (it is only approx. 35cm long). For small dogs, the short length may require more bending.

A separate short lead or a very short everyday leash can be custom-made from the same material at no additional cost upon request – please contact us for this.

Various Carabiners to Choose From

Bolt Snap Carabiner: The common standard closure; the size of the carabiner is always matched to the selected dog's weight.
Clamp Safety Carabiner: Balanced ratio of safety, stability, and price.
Safe-Twist-Lock Carabiner: Particularly secure against unintentional opening due to its twist-and-click mechanism.

Robust PVC Webbing

PVC webbing is particularly scratch-resistant. Branches, bushes, and thorns cause less damage to the surface and are less likely to penetrate the material than with softer PVC webbings or other known material providers.

The tracking leash is also water-repellent, bacteria-resistant, and easy to clean under running water.

Securely Crafted

The stressed connections are not riveted but triple-screwed. Additionally, we secure the screws with thread-locking adhesive to prevent unintentional loosening.

Screws, carabiners, and the label's rivets are uniformly matched to the selected metal color.

General information

- Correct use

Always use the leash on a dog harness and never directly on the dog collar.

- Metal goods

Depending on their quality, screws and snap hooks can wear out over time. This is a natural process and almost impossible to prevent with tow lines. This does not affect safety and stability in any way. Our hardware is pre-treated differently depending on the color and therefore has different levels of abrasion resistance. We generally use metal alloys of very high industrial quality, which offer very high corrosion resistance (very robust against rust formation). All hardware used is inspected and tested before use. The specific hardware used in this product is listed above.

Painted hardware (black): Most vulnerable, the paint can wear off over time.
Copper-plated hardware (rose gold): Low vulnerability.
Brass-plated hardware (golden look): Low vulnerability.
Real brass hardware (gold): No vulnerability
Silver hardware: No vulnerability

A towing leash is part of the basic equipment for dog training and is subjected to intensive use when used.

However, with proper care and use, SammyLunaDesigns towlines will last for several years.

Wash/clean

You can simply run the material under water or wipe it with a damp cloth. Avoid using strong, aggressive cleaning products. If it is very dirty, you can help with a little neutral soap or liquid detergent.

Wipe dry roughly with a lint-free cloth and then let it air dry. Avoid heating, hairdryers and dryers.

Carabiner care

Greasing: We recommend regular oiling at intervals of approx. 6 months or after intensive washing processes. If you spend most of your time near salt water, this recommendation is reduced to shorter distances depending on your needs and local conditions.

Cleaning: After spending time on sandy beaches, for example, check that the carabiner is properly closed.

In general: The classic bolt carabiners are known for blocking themselves with grains of sand. However, this usually only occurs near sandy beaches. If necessary, simply clean the carabiner under running water and the problem should be solved.

Product-specific questions

How does this tow line with the hand strap work?

If necessary, the hand strap is simply attached to the end of the towing line using a carabiner. Your towing line already has a hand loop.

How do I convert the hand strap into a holder?

You wrap the hand strap once around the towing line that has already been folded several times and then pass the carabiner of the hand strap through its own loop. You can then strap the holder, including the attached tow line, to your backpack, trousers or belt.

I'm looking for a Biothane towline - am I in the right place?

Absolutely! - The SammyLunaDesigns towing lines are all made of water-repellent webbing, which has almost identical properties to the patented Biothane BETA®. Some customers report a slightly more slip-resistant surface when wet compared to Biothane® BETA. A better material for a tow line will be difficult to find.

How safe is this towline?

This towline from SammyLunaDesigns is 100% securely screwed. Our screws are all additionally secured with a high-quality screw locking adhesive from a well-known manufacturer. Loosening the screw on your own is therefore almost impossible.

Isn't the carabiner too small for my dog?

We select the carabiner according to your weight specification. The carabiner size alone does not provide a good indication of the quality and stability of the carabiner. Rather, it depends on the type of production, the material, the breaking load and even more. It is not uncommon for carabiners that appear to be smaller to have a higher breaking load than carabiners that appear to be larger.

Are the metals used nickel-free?

Yes! Almost all metal elements are tested to be free of nickel and have the “passport compliant” mark from the laboratory. They can all be classified as hygienically harmless and do not release nickel.

If you are unsure and your dog has a nickel allergy, please contact us. We would be happy to advise you and help you clarify this.

When should I use the towing line with a hand strap and when without?

Of course, this depends on your training goal and your training methods. You should usually remove the wrist strap if the towline is dragging on the ground to reduce the risk of injury. If you are actively training with your dog and the towing leash, then it is usually recommended to use the hand strap. (e.g. change of direction exercises, etc.)

Can the color of the leash rub off?

No - at least our quality assurance has not yet been able to determine this and so far there has not been a single complaint out of several hundred orders. We know that with some competitors colors can rub off. However, the material used there is usually of inferior quality and is not produced in the EU. We source our material from the EU and attach great importance to excellent quality.

General information about dog leashes

How long do you need to make my leash?

Since we make all of the linen ourselves by hand and the selection of colors available is enormous, we often have to order the desired color from the supplier first. If we already have the materials in stock, it usually takes between 1-3 working days, otherwise as stated under "Delivery times", until your leash leaves our factory.

I would like to exchange one color for another

Write to us via WhatsApp or email with your change request. Since we manufacture to order, the desired change should not be a problem.

We also offer configurators, where you can configure your leash 100% yourself.

What leash length do I need for my dog?

This depends on your training goal or your personal taste and the use of the leash. If you are very motivated and often train with your dog on a leash, then we recommend a maximum leash length of 200cm. If you want to hang the leash around your neck, we recommend a length between 240cm - 300cm depending on your body type. For dogs that pull heavily on the leash, we recommend 180cm-200cm.

Tow lines

The specified length corresponds to the unprocessed length of the raw material. We always measure the ordered length from the roll and then process the material into the towline.

The hand strap reduces the total length by approx. 30cm.

Die abnehmbare Handschlaufe ist super. Die Leine hält, was sie verspricht ist allerdings etwas schwerer als angenommen. Aber das macht nichts. Saugt kein Wasser auf, ribbelt nicht auf, sehr gute Qualität.
